Maybe you remember the song, Are the good times really over? In it, Merle Haggard asked, "Are we rolling down hill like a snow ball heading for Hell?" Released in 1981, this song was an appropriate commentary on the state of the union after the defeatist and pathetic Carter administration. After the rehabilitation of American morale and patriotism during the Reagan years, I forgot about the song but now, unfortunately, its message has become all too relevant, yet again. If we believe what we see and hear on the national news (with the exception of FOX), the movies, and most television shows, we certainly could conclude the sun is setting on the American empire.
How did this happen?
I submit it happened from the bottom up. We allowed education to be overtaken by radicals and anarchists. Does the name Bill Ayers ring a bell? It should. The bombs he and his kind detonated in the '60's were not nearly so effective as the bombs he and his comrades have exploded in the minds of our children over the past 35 years. Much has been made of Barrack Obama's association with the "unrepentant terrorist," Ayers, during the early days of Obama's political career in Chicago. Many people have asked (and rightly so) how it is that a man who would be our president chose to associate with a man of such ill repute. People say this association says something about Obama's lack of judgment. I vigorously disagree. Obama is not a careless or frivolous man. He exercised very careful judgment when he chose to associate with Ayers, not because Ayers was a terrorist but because Ayers is a professor of education with a dangerous agenda of brainwashing the young people of this country. Obama knew, as did Ayers, that there is nothing more vital to the goal of disintegrating American values than to brainwash our children with socialist propaganda under the guise of political correctness. By handing out dollars from the Chicago Annenberg challenge to radical eductational organizations, some of which were associated with Ayers, Obama and Ayers were laying the groundwork for a future coup d'etat and we are right in the middle of it.
Obviously, Ayers and Obama are not the only people in this country who have worked diligently to undermine American values. There are many, many others. One need only look to the ivory towers of academia, the film studios of Hollywood, and the hallowed halls of Congress to find them. They are politely called "liberals." They might more accurately be referred to as socialists, anarchists, and, perhaps, Marxists. Through their unified efforts, many of our children have been taught that America is an evil empire, imperialist, toxic, racist, sexist, and worst of all, CAPITALIST!!
The anti-Capitalist seeds planted in our education system by people such as Ayers, Obama, and their allies have grown to maturity and are ready for the reaping. The reaping of our young electorate is taking place in the main stream media, the movies, the televsion shows, and other cultural outlets. Community organizers and groups such as ACORN (sound familiar?) are reaping votes from minority and low-income communities. These efforts are being bolstered by "well meaning" Hollywood types who urge people to "get out and vote." Well, it looks like this time it is going to work.
Now, let me be clear--there is nothing illegal about brainwashing people. It has happened because those of us who have been comfortable with our lives have been lazy, greedy, and willfully blind. Indeed, maybe many of us have been brainwashed, as well. We feel "guilty" if we express opinions about the disintegration of American culture and values. We are called xenophobes if we dare oppose illegal immigration. We are afraid to criticize our children for talking and dressing like gang members. Other examples abound.
Patrick Buchanan warned us of this problem over 20 years ago and he was excoriated not only by the liberal elite but also by his own party. It was not "comfortable" to accept Buchanan's views at the time. It was not part of the "new world order" favored by Bush 41 and Bill Clinton. Whether you agree or disagree with Pat Buchanan, you have to admit that he was right about the cultural war we now find ourselves in.
Have you noticed that when Obama speaks to the masses, he speaks of the "chance to create historic change." Yet, he rarely says what type of change he is referring to. He simply says we can't have 4 more years of the Bush policies. That is what we call a "red herring." The "historic change" that Obama plans to visit upon America, with the help of Harry Reed and Nancy Pelosi, is nothing short of the creation of a new American government that not only protects its populace but also takes care of its populace through "redistributive change." As for foreign policy, Obama and his comrades have a vision of an America that is a subsidiary of the United Nations that will sit passively by as American allies and interests abroad are threatened by China, Russia, and "tiny" threats, such as Iran.
The good news is that we won't have to hear about all this change for very long because once Obama is elected (if he is elected), then he and his allies will shut down the dissidents. No more Fox News!! Obama and his campaign already have declared war on Fox. No more right wing talk radio. No more Towne Hall Blogs. No, if Obama is elected, we will receive soothing, state-sponsored propoganda. Maybe those of us with conservative or right wing leanings will be mercifully relieved of our pain with lobotomies provided under the new Obama health care plan.
Oh, by the way, none of this has to happen. We don't have to let these people win. We can get out and brainwash people, too--with the truth. God Bless America. God Bless John McCain and Sarah Palin. May these blessings lead to votes. May the votes lead to victory. With victory, may we make the most of our reprieve and turn this country around.
